PRE & POST CONGRESS TOURS
Various packages are available for touring Southern Africa to discover the splendid beauty of this magnificent part of the world:
In Gauteng:
One of the popular world heritage sites of UNESCO is the Cradle of Mankind which includes knowledgeable displays and a canoe trip in a cave.
Many enjoy a trip to Soweto with traditional meal and a visit to the Hector Peterson museum close to Winnie Mandela's home.
Maybe you would like to visit a lodge or park to view wild for example the Krugersdorp game lodge (not to be confused with the Kruger Park in the Limpopo province).
In Western Cape:
Trip by cable car to the top of Table Mountain with a view over Table Bay, Robben Island and the centre of the city.Keep weather in mind .Could be windy or misty and weather changes dramatically within minutes.
Boat trip to Robben island to see where Mandela was kept in jail. Could be choppy out of the bay but it is a short distance and is a pilgrimage for many!
Outing to university town, Stellenbosch, amidst vineyards... include wine tasting. Exceptional half or full day depending what you would like to include, but few towns in the world could rival S'bosch for setting.
Drive round trip from Cape Town around Cape Point. Stop over in Hout Bay or any other for meal of fresh fish.
If fauna and flora is your thing you might love a trip via Betty's Bay, Kleinmond or Hermanus. Enjoy rugged scenery, calving whales, dense bush (known as fynbos) and small villages of holiday and retirement homes. In most of the villages there are hiking trails criss crossing the rocky coast often linking beaches. For those interested in art a quick stop at various coffee shops or galleries on the short Palmiet harbour road at Kleinmond is a delight.
Similar outing but more pastoral would be a drive to Franschoek known for it's wine's, chocolateurs, cheeses, restaurants and delightful shops and art.
