Emotional Intelligence Inside & Outside the Classroom or Conference Room

Ilene McDonough, USA

Objectives:

    • Having examined previous approaches in the classroom/conference room, explore and identify opportunities that enhance optimism and heighten awareness of emotional intelligence through appreciative inquiry.
    • Develop an awareness and an ability to recognize opportunities for students /employees to use two models of emotional intelligence that complement each other.
    • Recognize and discuss how what occurs in the classroom or conference room can be practically applied beyond that room and in all of life’s scenarios.

Abstract:

What’s the level of Emotional Intelligence in your conference room or classroom?  Do you consider yourself emotionally intelligent inside and outside of that room?

Often referred to as EI or EQ, Emotional Intelligence is critical to everyday life, both inside and outside of the classroom.  EI is neither clinical nor pathological, but about emotional wellness.  Because EI’s universality encompasses all disciplines, it is critical that educators in the classroom and managers in the workplace be adept to interface across all cultures, no matter what socioeconomic groups our students or workers represent.

Become enlightened as to why encouraging appreciative inquiry can be mutually beneficial for all parties involved.   Learn how making certain considerations to better understand will result in improving and enriching your relationships, be they inside or outside the classroom or conference room, no matter with whom you interface.  Develop a better understanding of how EI fosters optimism and proactive, conscious choices, thereby creating an environment that sustains emotional wellness and authentic empathy.
