POST-19TH IFHE CONGRESS
ADVANCED HEALTHCARE TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP
11-13 MAY 2005


 As part of the ongoing global capacity building programme instituted by the World Health  Organization  (WHO) in late  1980s, this Workshop is organized by WHO in collaboration with the  American College  of Clinical Engineering  (ACCE), International Federation of Hospital Engineering  (IFHE), International  Federation for Medical and Biological  Engineering (IFMBE), and Health  Technology Management  Programme at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

 Within the 19th IFHE Congress' overall theme of Healthcare Engineering in Developing Countries, the  purpose of the  Workshop is to contribute to the development and strengthening of institutional  capacity in Africa and beyond for  proper planning and management of technology in health service  delivery and explore technical support and service  options for healthcare facility physical  infrastructure and equipment.

 The Workshop focus is on Healthcare Technology Planning and Acquisition, and will cover global best  practices in a  number of related key priority topics.

 The Workshop will include readings, teamwork on selected priority topics, case study presentations,  and forums for  discussion.

 The Workshop faculty comprises leading international health technology planning and management  experts from  Malaysia, South Africa, USA and WHO.

 The Workshop will commence on Thursday 11 May at 14.00 at CTICC, and will then proceed on  Friday 12 May and  Saturday 13 May (until 17.30) at the UCT Sports Science Institute, Newlands.  Transport from/to Waterfront/SSI-UCT  will be provided on 12 and 13 May.

 The 19th IFHE Congress attendees are encouraged to participate in the Workshop,
