Call for Workshop Proposals is now CLOSEDICSE Workshops provide a highly interactive and collaborative environment in which to discuss and advance important topics in software engineering. They may last from one to two days, and be held before or after the main conference. Participation in ICSE workshops is typically open. Workshops can be quite diverse. For example, some may be regularly occurring gatherings of researchers and practitioners who are working on an established topic, while others may seek to lay the foundations for research in a new or emerging areas. We encourage proposals on a broad range of relevant topics. |

Proposal Submission HintsPre-planning for your workshop submission can increase its chances of being accepted! If you are interested in organizing a workshop, we, as Workshop Co-chairs, encourage you to communicate your proposed topic, themes, and goals with us as early as possible. This helps us to identify conflicts and other problems while there is time to resolve them. Your workshop submission must provide the following information: • The organizer(s), and a brief statement of organizer qualifications. • A concise (elevator talk) statement of workshop theme and goals. • Relevance of the workshop to the field of software engineering. In particular, we expect to see a clear statement of why members of the ICSE community will be interested in this workshop topic and what impact your workshop will have on them. • Planned workshop format (paper presentations, invited talks, working sessions, panels, etc.). • Whether the workshop will accept papers that should be published in the ICSE companion proceedings. • An estimated number of workshop participants (with explanation). • A plan for advertising, or otherwise promoting attendance at, the workshop. • A preliminary version of the call for papers. • A list of likely program committee members (if relevant).
How to submitWorkshop proposals must be submitted following the ICSE 2010 Workshop Proposal Submission Template. Workshop proposals can be up to 5 pages long. All submissions must conform to the ICSE 2010 Format and Submission Guidelines. Submissions must be made through the CyberChairPro electronic submission system. By the deadline for camera-ready submission of ICSE research papers (13 February 2010), organizers of accepted workshops (not authors) will have to submit a 2page abstract about their workshop that will be included in the first volume of the ICSE proceedings. |
Review and Evaluation CriteriaWorkshop proposals will be reviewed by the Workshop Co-chairs and a small selection committee. Acceptance will be based on: • Evaluation of the workshop's potential to advance the state of software engineering research and/or practice. • Evaluation of the workshop’s potential to achieve its goals, given the proposed format and plan. • Timeliness and expected community interest in the topic. • Organizers’ ability to lead a successful workshop. • Success the workshop had in its past editions (if any). After acceptance tasks and decisionsAfter the notification of acceptance the Workshop Organizers will: • set up a website for their workshop, • finalize the important dates (Workshop Co-chairs will suggest some dates that can be changed for appropriate reasons), • finalize their selection of Program Committee members (if relevant), • finalize the call for papers. All these are due by November 14th 2009.
• Advertise and otherwise solicit participation in the workshop. • Manage the process that leads to the preparation of the workshop program. • Prepare a two-page abstract that will be included in the ICSE proceedings. • Run the workshop and ensure that it is a success. • Review the workshop budget and expected attendance with the Workshop Co-chairs.
Cancellation PolicyWorkshops may be cancelled at the discretion of the Workshop Co-chairs if they do not attract sufficient participation or if they seem unlikely to be successful. This decision will be made no later than February 28, 2010. |
